Javelina Hunt 2017

Its always a great time meeting up with our hunting family, I always feel blessed being surrounded by amazing people when we go hunting, this time was no different. Plus we had six tags to fill this year which was exhilarating!

Last year we found out I was pregnant right before the javelina hunt and this year she is 5 months old! It's crazy how time flies!!

This was the first hunt we decided not to take the trailer since having Ridgley. I was super nervous at first but it actually turned out great! Dillon made sure the tent was toasty all night (thanks babe!) and we bundled Ridgley up in all her blankets. {Blankets pictured: Coral Cottage & Sweet Ellie Sue} Ridgley was in heaven the whole time, she is such an outdoors baby. She slept better than at home! It is incredible how comfortable she is being outside in the wind, rain, sun, she is just the best!

Good Morning! The happiest camper at camp in the morning!!

The weekend hunt was SO slow, we hiked up a couple mountains to glass for hours and saw deer like no other but absolutely no javelina. Ridgley just learned to sit up so it made being on the mountains super easy, she was content playing. I made sure to have enough blankets and warm clothes to bundle her up with the cold weather front. {The little jump suit (Old Navy) and Pom Beanie (June & January) are EVERYTHING} Another thing I make sure to do is bring toys that I can hook on to her carrier or her clothes, it helps a lot when moving from glassing spots. I also let her play in the weeds and chew on rocks because why not! At one point we sat on the mountain for so long in the wind the men were fed up, we started grabbing stuff to hike down the mountain, as I put Ridgley in her carrier she was mad that she was going back in the carrier, she wanted to keep playing in the weeds.

Sunday morning, it was super cold and windy but we decided to hike through the wash for one last effort. After a whole lot of brush, cat claw and mesquite on our wash expedition we decided to pack up and go home. As we were packing up the storm front moved in super fast, we thought it was going to snow! As we were driving out, we stopped to glass one more time, Cole glassed up a whole herd of javelina on the hill side before Dillon could even get his binos out. The men were off to shoot them and I stayed back with Ridgley and Coles dad to spot. (Here's to hoping my hubby publishes his blog post so you can get the real hunt details)

An hour later, six javelina tags filled, and 9 1/2 happy hunters!

This picture sure pulls on my heart strings, I love the heck out of these two outdoor fanatics!
