At only a month old we took Ridgley on her first hunting trip! Dillon had a break in guiding so why wouldn't he want to go hunting on his time off.....(I am telling you its 24/7). Tanner and Cole are some of our very dear friends who have helped tremendously with Dillons business so I couldn't say no. I was nervous--I mean who wouldn't be and excited to be outdoors, Ridgley had a double ear infection so she was a bit cranky, nonetheless we headed up to Sedona to help two of our favorite people on their muzzleloader deer hunt. The nights were chilly but the days were hot, especially for October. Ridgley and I hung out at the trailer a lot because of her double ear infection. We went out a few times with the boys, hiked around a bit, sighted in Coles gun, I had the opportunity to shoot the gun for my elk hunt a couple weeks later and just got a feel for hunting with a newborn.

As I look back on going hunting with a newborn, most people were looking at us like we were crazy. But personally I wouldn't have changed it, I learned so much about being a mom, more specifically Ridgleys mom. Like don't forget the thermometer if your child is sick (yup did that....mom fail). My little girl LOVES being outside, she would cry unless we were outside. She doesn't mind the carrier, falling asleep in the K'Tan was her jam and a lifesaver for me!! Sighting in the guns did not bother her one bit, she slept through it all! You can never have enough blankets while camping. Sucking boogers is pretty much disgusting. Sometimes you just need to snuggle all day with your sick babe, it makes you both feel better. The boys loved having Ridge at camp, she is such a trooper, we are so blessed to live this life!

I will write up a post about the must-haves for baby while hunting soon!
